Returning to Normal

I have been out of pocket lately.  I had surgery a couple of weeks ago.  I had my nasty gallbladder taken out and have been recovering.
There are a few things that you need to know if you have to have this wonderful, little procedure done.

1st
Having surgery on your belly SUCKS!!!  I had to hold a pillow against my stomach to get up and down. Yes, including going to the bathroom.  For all those ladies who have had c-sections, you have my greatest sympathy.  I don't ever want to have anymore babies if it results in a c-section.

2nd
Percocet 10's and I don't have a love relationship.  I felt like I was having an out of body experience everytime I took one.  I would be fine for about 15 minutes and the BOOM I felt like I was floating away.  It did help the pain, though.  I guess that's good.  I don't like not feeling my body.  It's a bit creepy.  It's like those shows you see where the guy is looking down at his body.  I would just look down at my hand and wonder if it was really mine.

3rd
I want a big, fat, juicy cheeseburger or fried chicken.  Can I have it?  No!  Come on that's not fair!  All the good stuff is off the table.  I want to clog my arteries and eat whatever I want.  Unfortunately, my poor, deprived belly says I can't.  It's been 2 weeks and I have to wait at least 4 weeks until I can chance eating those yummy meals.  On the plus side, this not eating anything has dropped 5 pounds.  Woohoo!  I can fit back into some of my pre-pregnancy clothes.

Any who!
Sebastian has been visiting all hs grandparents.  He loved going to the alligator park, hiking a nature trail, watching Ice Age 4, going to a fair, camping and fishing at Indian Creek, riding bikes, and playing with all the puppy dogs.  Holy cow!  How am I going to get him to come home with me?  I am so glad that he has been able to get some love from his grandparents.  He missed me!!!  He came in the door and ran and hugged me.  He's been randomly giving me hugs and kisses.  Geez!  I love that boy.

Lily has been a rotten mess!  Thanks Daddy!  She loves to take walks in her stroller.  She wants to be held constantly.  Her daddy misses her when he works so much so he holds her and lets her sleep on his chest.  Secretly, I don't mind.  I like that he is so in love with our kids.
Lily has been rolling over for a bit now.  She likes to sleep on her belly.  She has two teeth on the bottom now and is sitting up almost completely on her own.  She still wobbles a bit, but for the most part she is sitting.

Well, enough for now.  Have a wonderfully, blessed day.

Hospitals, Pain and Blessings

This past week has been a whirlwind.  I went to the hospital Sunday and was sent home with pain meds.  I set up to see a surgeon to get my gall bladder taken out.  Tuesday, the pain had me in tears and off I went again to the hospital.  This time they admitted me.  Wednesday, the surgeon comes in and says that she doesn't think it's my gall bladder.  She wanted to do more tests.  More tests lasted until Friday.  They did a scope and saw no ulcers and the GI doctor said it was the gall bladder.  I have to go in Monday at 7:45 to do a HIDA scan.  Then, Tuesday meet with the surgeon again.

Tonight the pain is pretty intense, but I don't want to take any pain meds.  It has made me so sad this week to pump and dump so much milk.  Tomorrow, I will have to pump and dump through Wednesday.  They will be injecting me with radiation.  I wish I could just feed my girl.  I know I would love to be feeling better and this is a step in the right direction.  I just want to hold my little girl and feed her.  I missed her so much this week while I was in the hospital.  I cried just wanting to go home.  I missed Sebastian, too.  It hurts more when your babies aren't around and there's nothing you can do about it.  I am glad he was with his grandparents and cousins.  He had a wonderful time.  For that I am grateful and thankful.

I am so worried that tomorrow will show that the gall bladder is working fine and they have no idea what is going on.  Then what?  More tests??  As a mom, our minds start going in a hundred bad directions.   What if it is worse than the gall bladder?  Cancer? I don't want to miss out on my babies getting bigger.  I don't want to miss seeing Sebastian driving a car or Lily's first date.  I know that my mind is running away with me and that I shouldn't be worried.  I know that God is in control no matter what.  Still, the mind wanders.

If it is the gall bladder, we will be pretty ticked to know that this could have been taken care of when I was in the hospital.  This is just keeping me from my babies and pain free.  I am exhausted with trying to figure these doctors out.  I know they are doing their job and making sure.  BUT REALLY????  You have only seen me for 5 minutes a day!!!  How can you expect to know what is wrong with me?  You pushed on my belly.  I showed you where it hurt!  4 different doctors!!!  Come on guys!  Figure it out!

Anyway, I love my sweet babies and am so blessed that God has given them to me.  They make me smile each day.  Sebastian and his sweet, lovable self.  Lily and her "I want my mama" cry.   I love when Sebastian crawls up in bed and cuddles with me in the mornings.  I love how excited he gets when he does something new.  I love how Lily laughs at Sebastian.  I love how she wakes up with the biggest smiles and jabbers all morning.  These are the things I cherish.

Eric has been a rock through all of this.  He has helped me pee, pump, and wiped away my tears.  By the way, he never thought he would ever have to help me pee but hospital pain meeds deemed it necessary.  I was very wobbly.  He is the one who has held my hand and prayed with me.  He is the one who has loved me through it all.  I am so blessed to have such a wonderful husband.

All of that to say, pray for us.  Pray that this test shows what is wrong.  Pray that the doctors can fix the problem.  Pray that my milk supply stays up.  Pray that Sebastian doesn't worry too much.  Pray that all goes well.  God hears our prayers and answers them!

Exhauted

The title says it all!!  I am so exhausted!  Believe it or not, Eric let me sleep in this morning.  I got out of bed at 8 am.  Yes, 8:00 is sleeping in for me.  I had my coffee and did the oh so crappy P90X today.

It all started off great......And then.......Lily woke up from her nap and cried ALL afternoon.  She didn't want to be put down.  She didn't want to be rocked.  She didn't want to be held.  Poor baby is teething. You can feel the little teeth trying to break through.  Lily is miserable!!!  We are miserable!!  I am ready for my sweet angel to start feeling better.  She is really funny though.  SHe will start to cry and fuss if she doesn't see me or Eric and then we walk to her and smile and she starts laughing.  That little heifer! She knows what she's doing.

Sebastian played ball tonight.  It's the end of season tournament.  Thank GOD!!!  It's so hot outside.  They won tonight.  We will play again Wednesday.  Can't wait.  He is really having a great time playing.  The coaches have been great with the kids.  They are patient and really are fabulous with the kids.  After several years of not so great coaches, we finally got one that's good.  They are learning how to play the game and it shows.  The coach always tells them they did a good job and praises them.  He lets them know where they need to work.  He is not there to glorify his child.  He wants them all to have a good time.

I love my babies very much and all of the exhaustion is worth it!  I just feel so blessed that I have these amazing gifts from God.  I am blessed that I have a wonderful husband who works his tail off for us and loves us!

I am praying for several people tonight.  Put a prayer up as well for them.  God knows who they are and what they are going through.  I pray that he comforts them and wraps them in His love.  I pray that those around them will give them the support, prayers, and love that they need.

Til the next time........

P90X I Hate You!

Ouch! I am in pain!

First, let me begin by saying I feel like a big fat cow.  Yes, I know I just had a baby 4 almost 5 months ago.  I have two big belly rolls, back fat, and I am totally out of shape and exhausted.  Eric keeps telling me that if I am unhappy with the way I look to exercise.  SO I DID!

Yesterday was my first day to do P90X.  Core Workout.  Today, I feel every muscle in my body screaming at me.  I had to roll out of the bed.  Forget sitting straight up.  That would have made me cry.  My abs are sore.  My thighs and my butt are killing me.  This had better work.

While I was exercising yesterday, I came to a few conclusions.
1.  Breastfeeding and exercising don't always get along.  No jumping jacks for me!
2.  The guy who instructs P90X is on my people I don't like list.
3.  This sucks!

Eric wants to start eating healthy.  Basically, he means to eat only vegetables.  I can't handle that.  Give me a good ol' hamburger!  I vote we just stay home and eat.  I will cook vegetables and even go to the farmers market.  He wants to follow that nutrition plan for P90X.  A mushroom omelet for breakfast:  YUCK!  I hate eggs and mushrooms.  Hmmmm......

Today starts day two: Cardio.  It's a shorter workout but with all of this pain from yesterday, it's going to feel like an eternity!  I might just have to throw something at the tv or mute it so I don't have to hear that annoying guy talk!

Full Days

One would think that a stay at home mom would be at home.  BIG FAT NOT!
Swim lessons
Ball Games
Zumbatomics
Library
I love keeping my boy busy!  He is such a smart and energetic kid.  He is swimming like a fish.  He loves the water.  Maybe, we should move to the beach where he can play in the water all the time.  OR live in a house that has a pool and pool boy.  HAHA!

We play baseball tonight!  So far we are undefeated!!  Woohoo!  We have a game tomorrow night and Saturday.  I hope we can be undefeated.   Then next week we play a tournament.

Zumbatomics is great!  For an hour, Sebastian runs around and dances.  He gets all of his energy out.  He has so much fun while he is there.

Then there's the library.  He wants to go there all the time.  He is reading books almost all by himself.  He trips on a few words here and there but overall he reads them.  They are on 2nd grade levels too.  We checked out 7 books for him Thursday.  Tomorrow we will be going back to the library to return them and get more.

Lily is doing well.  She is getting so big so fast.  She gained a pound in a week.  I guess this mama is doing something right.  She is teething too.  I hope it's awhile before she gets a tooth.  She slobbers and chews!  Her favorite toy is a squeaky giraffe.  I can't believe she is already 4 1/2 months.  I look at her and see how much she has grown and it makes me sad.  She's my last baby.  I could go for another one :)  Eric not so much.

What a morning!!

What a day and it's only 2:30!!!
We went to the doctor this morning for Lily's 4 month checkup.  She is a healthy 13 lbs 7 oz.  She is looking good.  Then came the shots.  She was not a happy camper and who can blame her!!  I made sure to give her tylenol before the shots and nursed her after.  I put her down and she screamed bloody murder.    She was fine when I picked her back up.  THIS IS ONE SPOILED PRINCESS!!!
Sebastian had swim lessons this morning.  He is such a fish!  He loves the water.  I am glad that he listens to Alison when he's in the pool.  It's such a big improvement from last year.  He was such a spaz!  He retained what he learned from last year.  He now knows how to do the breaststroke and backstroke.  Alison is trying to get him to breathe while doing the breaststroke.  It's comical!  He is trying to swim and breathe and he looks like a fish out of water that's smiling the whole time.
I finally get a babysitter for a lunch but I told her the wrong day! UGH!!  It's ok though.  She came over and brought her little brother.  Sebastian is worn slap out!  He's snoozing on the couch and Lily is snoozing in the swing.  Lily has decided she doesn't like people.  She cried when Kristy held her.  She cried when she looked at her.  She cried when she talked to her.  3 hours into it Lily finally decided that Kristy could talk to her.  I laid her down in her pack and play to play with her toys and she was fine.  Kristy went over there and Lily just laughed at her.  Then when Kristy picked her up, she cried again.  What am I going to do with that stinker?  She's going to have to get used to other people.  Sebastian could care less who he held him.
Now, I am taking a break!  Red beans are cooking in the crock pot and smell delicious!  Next up: laundry and getting ready for the baseball game tonight.  GO GREEN TEAM!!!
Or maybe I should take a nap too???  HAHA!!!  Lily just woke up from her 10 minute cat nap!

Crazy Weekend

So....my first days as a stay at home mom haven't been at home!!
Thursday, Lily and I went to pick up Sebastian in Alexandria.  Holy Moly!  Traffic in Baton Rouge is horrible.  We came home Friday.  (7 hours on the road Thursday and 6 hours Friday).
While we love our family and grandparents, I can say that I don't want to make that drive again for a LONG time!!!
Saturday, I had a nice outing.  I went to tea with my sweet church family.  We had an amazing time.  I really enjoyed being able to get to know some of the ladies better.  We are so blessed to have a wonderful church family.  God is good!
Then we went to a birthday party.  Sebastian swam his little heart out.  He had so much fun.  He really loves to play with Tyler and Mikayla and Chrissy.
Today was church and a going away party for Erik.  After church we had pizza.  Sebastian painted us a picture.  He is such a sweet little boy.
I am realizing now just how much we run and go.  Sebastian was a go baby.  He loved everybody.  Lily, on the other hand, is a home body.  She doesn't like to be on the road or a lot of people.  She screamed when people looked at her.  I felt so bad because everyone wants to hold her and talk to her.  It was kind of funny though.  When they even looked at her she would cry!  It was better this afternoon at Erik and Emily's going away party.
I am looking at curriculum for Sebastian.  He is so eager to learn!  I found something that I like.  Hmmm.....do you think Eric will let me spend 150 dollars on it.  I think so.  I am not sure how to teach bible stories so I think this is going to help.  I think that I am going to order Saxon Math for 1st grade, too.  Maybe, I will find a good phonics program  and a good science and social studies.  I might as well teach him while he wants to learn because when he is a teenager he's going to want to be with all his friends.
Lily has talked and talked all day today.  She is getting so big so fast.  I am amazed watching her.  She is getting a great personality.  She's laid back like Eric but has my spark.  It's such a joy to be able to be home with her and Sebastian.  I wake up and look forward to my sweet angels.
Tomorrow starts swim lessons and baseball practice.  I still have to go to the grocery store.  With Eric home tomorrow, I will make it!
